Overview

Telkom was the official sponsor of the 2019 Telkom Netball League. Launched in 2014, the semi-professional netball league is a first of its kind in Africa. The 5-week tournament was hosted in Pretoria and it featured 10 teams in total – 1 from each of the 9 South African provinces and 1 team from Zimbabwe. All 54 matches were broadcast live on SuperSport.

Solution

2019 was Telkom’s first year as sponsor of the Telkom Netball League. Various media events were hosted in order to promoteTelkom’s new association with the league and with Netball SA.

Event activations with Telkom branded giveaways were held during all games to create awareness and to amplify fan experience at the matches.

Fans were entertained with an exhibition match between the Proteas netball team and Mamelodi Sundowns soccer legends. The match served as a curtain raiser to the final and it created a vibrant atmosphere for the fans in attendance. Telkom is passionate about growing netball and local chools in the area were encouraged to attend the matches, the school with the highest attendance number received R50 000.
